Rev. Angie Buchanan
Hi! I’m Angie. I was called to the death threshold early in life and have accompanied the dying since the early 1980’s. Trained and Certified as a Death Midwife in 2011, I was Certified to Teach in 2013 by Nora Cedarwind Young; one of the founders of the National Home Funeral Alliance and the Death Midwife movement.
I wear a lot of different hats. Among other things, I have an advanced education in religious studies, am a minister with Earth Traditions Church, and a spiritual counselor specializing in Religious Trauma. I’m a Rites of Passage Officiant, Emeritus Board Member of the Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions, currently sit on the Advisory Board for The Guibord Center, and am the Pagan Student Advisor at the University of Chicago. I’m also a member of the National Home Funeral Alliance, the National Chaplains Association and the National Association of Certified Death Midwives..
I live in south east Wisconsin. I mostly work there, and in the city and suburbs of Chicago, but I travel extensively presenting and teaching a variety of workshops nationally and internationally.
I’m committed to educating individuals, small groups, families, and entire communities, hospices, or church groups, to proudly reclaim family directed choice at end of life.

“Death is the only guarantee we have in life and it is a sacred Rite of Passage deserving of as much thoughtful care and planning as any other life event. I envision individuals and families acknowledging and respecting death by adequately preparing for their own, and by being available for loved ones who find themselves in this threshold.” -Angie Buchanan
